Dar es Salaam, February 13, 2026 -The Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam has once again been recognised for its outstanding service delivery and customer care, securing the Service Excellence Award in the Health Sector category for the second consecutive year.
The award was presented during a ceremony organised by the Chartered Institute of Customer Management (CICM), which honours institutions that demonstrate exceptional commitment to service excellence, service innovation, and customer care.
This prestigious event was held at the King Jada Hotel in Dar es Salaam on Friday 13th, 2026. The event brought together leading organisations recognised for prioritising service excellence and setting high standards in customer care across various sectors. Six institutions were nominated in the health category, with The Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam, emerging as the category winner.
Receiving this recognition for a second consecutive year reflects the Hospital’s sustained investment in strengthening quality systems, digital integration, and clinical excellence across its operations.
In 2025, the Hospital integrated the MEDITECH Electronic Health Record (EHR) system across its national health network, improving care coordination and operational efficiency. The same year the hospital earned its fourth Gold Seal of Approval from Joint Commission International, remaining the only hospital in Tanzania with this globally recognised accreditation. Its laboratory services were also named among the Top Ten Laboratories in Africa for Immunoassay performance by the Randox International Quality Assessment Scheme (RIQAS), and the institution received the AMR Champion Award at the 7th Africa Continental World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week Scientific Conference.
Speaking after receiving the award on behalf of the institution, Human Resource Manager, John Msangi expressed gratitude and delight, attributing the success to the collective efforts of the hospital’s staff and the leadership team. This award is a testament to AKHS, Tanzania’s continued commitment to enhancing patient experience to international standards.
This latest honour underscores the hospital’s commitment to keeping patients at the centre of its operations and upholding the highest standards of care and service.
